5th Annual Costume Party
*EDIT 11/06/2007: More pictures from Peuv’s camera.
This weekend was our 5th Annual Halloween Costume Party held at Boston restaurant in Long Beach. This year’s theme was A Child’s Tale. I was the The Man with The Yellow Hat from the popular Curious George children book. I took the Best Male Costume award while my dear San took the Best Female Costume. She was the adorable Gingerbread Man. She hand-made her costume. This year’s party included the following characters:
- Ursula from the Little Mermaid (also hand-made)
- Little Red Riding Hood (partially hand-made)
- The surviving little pig
- Count Dracula (yes he was a folklore character)
- Tinkerbell from Peter Pan
- Jack & Jill
- Dorothy & Scarecrow of The Wizard of Oz
- Rumplestiltskin
- Waldo from Where’s Waldo books
- Snow White of the Seven Dwarves
- Cruela Devil from 101 Dalmations
- Jack of All Trades (Jack be Nimble, Jack and the Bean Stock, and Jack of Jack & Jill)
Thanks to Peuv for organizing and setting up another successful outing. Next year’s theme will be Heroes & Villians.
On another note, I was also honored last week for a Volunteer Recognition Award for my company. People were congratulating me. In a way I felt guilty because I didn’t think what I did was that great compared to what others do. I mean on my off time I’m helping the non-profit Asian Pacific Women’s Center redo their website and improve anything IT related for them. I actually enjoyed doing that kind of stuff and it was more fun than work to me. But I suppose I should just accept what they gave me and not be unappreciative. Man I’m still on this weird winning streak for the year.
Tale of 2 Elvis
We had our 4th Annual Halloween Costume Party last night. This year’s theme was famous or historical dead person. Coming into the party I thought I was going to be the only Elvis Presley. Unfortunately, I was duped again much like what happened at the 2nd year’s party where there were 2 Ryus of Street Fighter. Needless to say we both did not win any awards for our costume.
We had the following characters show up: Lucille Ball, Marie Antoinette, Frida Kahlo, Abe Lincoln, Kurt Cobain, Chivalry, Buddha, Sitting Bull, Marilyn Monroe, Jimi Hendrix, Lady Macbeth, William Wallace (Braveheart), Princess Isabelle (Braveheart), Mercedes Barba, 2 Pacohontas, and of course 2 Elvis.
Contest Winners:
- Best Female Costume: Frida (Sophorn)
- Best Male Costume: Buddha (Shon)
- Most Outrageous Costume: Marie Antoinette (Peuv)
- What %$#% Costume?: Chivalry (Kim)
A Chipmunk For A Night

I am happy to announce that last night’s 3rd annual Halloween Costume Party was a smashing success. Everybody had a great time with plenty of food and entertainment to last us from 7pm to 2am at
This year’s theme was cartoon characters before the 1990s. I went as Alvin while Adalyn went as Brittany. My costume was well-received by all the patrons of Gameworks. Everywhere I went, I got looks and people yelling “Alvin!” I felt like a celebrity with people giving me props. The highlight of the evening was winning the Best Male Costume amongst my friends and also with the help of Brittany, winning the best costume out of the whole place! I owe it all to my baby for making this unbelievable costume. Thanks hon! And thanks to all that organized the party. I had a blast. So next year’s theme: Famous Historical People.
