5K Race & Radiohead

By Johnny, April 8, 2008 11:27 am

I did my second 5K run this past weekend. Less hills and it showed in my time. Here are the results. I’m #118 on the list. I was a minute and a half faster than last week. It was still tough. I don’t know what it is but during these races I exert a bit more effort and try to run faster than I normally do. I think it’s that you get so competitive and think that you can beat that person or this person. But in reality, I should be running at my own pace. A fun experience nevertheless. Now that I have these races out of the way, I’m going to focus more on my triathlon training. Well, the bicycling and running portion of it at least. We’re racing in September so this should give me plenty of time to train. At the same time I’m going to train for next year’s LA Marathon.

Radiohead concert August 24th and 25th @ The Hollywood Bowl! Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10 AM. You know I’ll be going. Most likely to both shows. I can’t wait! It’s been too long since the last concert.

A Wedding & A Race

Another one bites the dust. This time it’s Ton who just got married a little over 2 weeks ago. It was a small but cozy wedding banquet. The first time we met his girlfriend/fiancee/wife. She was nice. Don’t know anything about her so she seemed nice.

Ton & Secilia's Wedding - March 15, 2008

This past weekend Shon and I went to run in our first 5K race of the season. The unofficial time based on my watch was 26 minutes and 48 seconds for myself and Shon came in about 37 minutes. I didn’t expect so many hills. The most disheartening thing was watching a 70 year-old run by you chatting with a woman with a quarter of mile left. I had no gas left to try to out run this guy. I can only wish I am as fit as him when I am at his age.

La Habra 10K/5K/1K Run Walk - March 29, 2008

I have another race coming up this coming weekend on April 6th. It’s for the non-profit I’ve been working with. Another 5K so I hope to beat my time. I’m also hoping the course will be much flatter than La Habra. Wish me luck.
